Mehrangarh Fort: Built by Maharaja Man Singh, it is a fine example of the military might of Rajputs. Perched on an imposing hill, Mehrangarh fort is spread over 5 kms. Within Mehrangarh Fort there are beautiful palaces, carved balconies and a musuem of weaponry, clothing and artifacts of the Rathore rulers of Jodhpur.
Umaid Bhawan: This architectural wonder is made of sandstone. Originally built as an employment generation project during a year when the state suffered a severe drought, the Umaid Bhawan Palace is a grand heritage hotel. Its beautiful architecture, heritage ambience and royal grandeur are a sight to be seen. Today, it has been converted into a museum and a luxury hotel.
Jaswant Thada: This white marble structure is the cenotaph of the rulers of Jodhpur. It contains memorials of previous kings and nobles of the Rathore clan. It was built in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant II. Many tourists flock to his shrine to pay their homage.
The Mahamandir Temple: Built in 1812, this striking temple displays some excellent examples of stone carving. The golden sandstone is carved in intricate designs and floral patterns and are a reminder of the beautiful craftsmanship of the artisans of Rajasthan.
Giridkot and Sardar Market: These are famous markets of the city where you can shop to your hearts content. Jodhpur is famous for handicraft items ranging from furniture to camel leather bags, shoes and belts.
