The oldest of the group is Vimala Vasahi, built in 1031 A.D. and dedicated to Adinath, the first Jaina Tirthankara (ford makers). It is named after the minister of the Solanki Dynasty, who funded its construction. Another important shrine is Neminath temple was built in 1231 A.D. and is more detailed.
Nakki Lake: Situated in the heart of Mount Abu town, the beautiful Nakki Lake is steeped in legends. Tradition has it that the lake was formed by the gods who dug the lakebed using their fingernails (nakh). As a result it was named so. It is difficult to convey the scale and grandeur of Nakki Lake through words alone. You really need to go there. Set in the picturesquely surroundings and surrounded by the hills on all sides, the lake has several islets which you can reach on hired boats. Adding to the beauty of the lake are the rock formations around it. These rock formations at Nakki Lake have been appropriately named Nun Rock, Toad Rock, Camel Rock and Nandi Rock due to their resemblance to these figures. Climbers flock to this lake to climb these impressive rock formations through the wooded forests.
